About
Books that Bite is a book club started by Angie and Tara based in Springfield, IL.
Although we will read books from all genres we’ll typically be reading
fantasy and paranormal books.
We’re still in the very beginning stages of getting everything together. As of now (09/2009) we will be meeting in person on a Sunday afternoon once a month and then online another night that week (we still need to find out what time/day would work best for everyone). The online group will be for those who don’t live in Central IL or can’t make it to the meeting.
All members suggest two books a month and we then put them through a randomizer to find which book we’ll be reading.
If you have suggestions for how to make this book club a success, please let me know!!
Our Book Rules:
Each member is welcome to suggest books from any genre (although we prefer fantasy/horror/paranormal). We just ask that they follow a few “rules”:
- must be 70-500 pages long
- please keep it to $15 or under
- if part of a series, must be the first book
- no “popular” series that almost everyone has read
- EG: Harry Potter, Twilight, Lord of the Rings, other really popular series like those
- must be from the 20th or 21st century
- Nothing extremely horrible or offensive
- EG: A how to book on getting away with murder, rape, child abuse, or something like that which could really upset someone. We are mainly a fantasy/horror genre book club so those things are somewhat to be expected in the books we read. I think most everyone would be able to use their best judgment on this one.
(If you have a book you really want us to read that doesn’t fit with these, please let us know and we can see if we can make it work.)
